The main causes of acne are the levels of hormones, especially testosterone, which are significantly increased. As a result, skin follicles produce more sebum and grease is increased. Sebum is released from the pores to protect the skin and keep it hydrated. Acne occurs when greasy and dead cells obstruct the pores of the skin. If bacteria enter the pores, the result may be edema, redness and pus. Symptoms of acne include red, white or black spots. These may appear on the face, neck, shoulders, back or chest. Very big spots with deep roots are called cystic lesions. These spots can cause pain if infected and may leave permanent marks on the skin.

It is distinguished in two major categories: inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne. Inflammatory Acne includes inflammation, which is expressed by pus, fluid, pain and other accompanying symptoms, at the same time where Non-Inflammatory Acne is expressed only with small spots.
