Scars And Stretch Marks Treatment

Stretch marks may appear in both men and women and in different parts of their body, including the abdomen, thighs, hips, chest, arms and back. It’s nothing more but scars that are created under the skin as a result of the sudden stretching that exerts on the skin. The stretch marks are formed in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin that allows the body to retain its shape. When it is constantly stretched, the dermis can break, creating externally what we call stretch marks.

This type of scar happens when the skin does not recover after pregnancy, weight gain, or abrupt weight loss. Stretch marks often start as reddish or purple and then become shiny, making the skin look like it has silver or white lines.

Stretch marks might also occur during puberty when the body often grows very quickly. Boys may have stretch marks on their shoulders and backs and the girls may show them on their hips, thighs and breasts.

There are many different treatments for stretch marks. Creams, gels and moisturizing lotions are basically preventive, as they do not reach enough depth to act. The effectiveness of the treatment depends on the type, color and location of the stretch, as well as when it occurred.
